Mission Statement:
The American Legion Department of New Hampshire was chartered on August 1, 1920. There are currently 100 American Legion Posts located throughout the state, comprised of about 16,000 members.
The Posts are grouped by individual Districts with the (8) Districts coming under the Department (State). Each of the levels, including the Department, has committees devoted to Americanism, community service, youth activities, volunteerism, legislative and religous matters, veteran rehabilitation, and more. For more information on our programs click on the Programs tab on our home page.
American Legion members contribute significantly to their individual communities. members give many thousands of pints of blood each year and much is donated by way of scholarships, community projects, emergency aid and youth activities. Many of the Posts have halls which are used by the community and other social functions for different events throughout the year.
The American Legion works closely with the Veterans Administration to ensure that the veterans of this state and country are taken care of for their service to this country. The Department of New Hampshire also works closely with our military organizations and is proud to have two military installations within the state that serve thousands of military members and their families.
